Free Speech and Rapidly Changing Discipline Issues in the Digital Era

Social media and the digital age have forced public employers to address rapidly changing and evolving discipline issues. However, employers must balance their legitimate business practices against employee and applicant privacy rights. Through a series of real-life cases, this workshop will explore a wide range of issues, including free speech and privacy issues, arising from technology and social media in the workplace and will include strategies for responding to off-duty speech by employees.
About our Speaker
Jennifer is a prolific litigator with an extensive background in lawsuits involving discrimination, harassment and retaliation, as well as disciplinary and due process issues. Jennifer has been successful in obtaining summary judgment on behalf of clients in many of her litigation matters in both state and federal court and also has extensive appellate experience.
In addition to her work as a litigator, Jennifer represents clients in numerous administrative appeal hearings and has a strong record of success on behalf of the firm's clients in in upholding their disciplinary decisions. Jennifer also advises and trains in the areas of leave rights, disability interactive process, disability retirement, discipline, termination, Fair Labor Standards Act, investigations, retaliation and discrimination.
Jennifer was named a Southern California Rising Star in Employment Litigation in 2013.
