Description: The topic of telecommuting has been on the rise, but this year with shelter in place orders in effect, telecommuting rapidly became a necessity in many public agencies. This session will review issues to discuss and incorporate into telecommuting policies for both exempt and non-exempt employees and the overlapping need to meet and confer on this subject for represented employees. Telecommuting can work well in some cases and create challenges in others. In the public sector, accountability is critical and we will discuss ideas to meet those expectations while offering telecommuting when feasible.
Alex Volberding (email@example.com): Alexander Volberding is an Associate in Liebert Cassidy Whitmore’s Los Angeles office where he provides assistance to clients in labor relations matters as well as employment law. Alex has a background in government and policy and provides clients advice and counsel on traditional labor relations issues, including collective bargaining, allegations of unfair practices, representation matters, and work stoppages.
