"Leading through a Pandemic: COVID-19's Lesson for HR in the NEW Government Workplace"

As organizations in the Tri-County area embrace the new normal, questions arise. What has the pandemic taught us about our post-COVID workplace?  While many workers return to the office, what will be driving their productivity, well-being, and engagement in this transformed environment?  Guest speaker Robert Lavigna is a subject matter expert in Human Resources and specializes in employee engagement in the public sector.  Mr. Lavigna is also a past national president of IPMA-HR and should make for a most timely presentation!

Bob Lavigna is Director of the Institute for Public Sector Employee Engagement, a division of CPS HR Consulting. The Institute is dedicated to helping public-sector and nonprofit organizations measure and improve employee engagement.

Bob’s book, Engaging Government Employees:  Motivate and Inspire Your People to Achieve Superior Performance (American Management Association), is the first book to focus exclusively on employee engagement in the public sector.
Before joining the Institute, Bob was Assistant Vice Chancellor and Director of HR for the University of Wisconsin. His previous positions also include Vice President - Research for the Partnership for Public Service and Director of the state of Wisconsin civil service system. Bob began his career with the U.S. Government Accountability Office.

He is an elected Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration, and was selected as a “Public Official of the Year” by Governing magazine. Bob also received the highest achievement awards from IPMA-HR and the National Association of State Personnel Executives. He is a past IPMA-HR national and Central Region President.

Bob has a B.A. in public affairs from George Washington University and an M.S. in HR from Cornell University.
